Web site developers don't generally offer guarantees or make promises. When someone says "I want to sell my products on the Internet", the most common response a developer will give is something along the lines of "I can create a Web site for you, but I have no control over whether anyone will actually purchase anything from you."

The most important promises, however, are the ones that directly affect your business. For instance:

• We guarantee that the site we design will reflect well upon your company.
• We guarantee that your Web site will comply with applicable privacy, security, and anti-spam laws as well as with industry regulations and ethical standards.
• We guarantee that future maintenance and upkeep of your site will be taken into account during the development of the site in order to minimize the costs associated with future content changes.

Unlike during the 1990s, Web site design and development today is a mature craft. Clients have a right to expect certain guarantees, and Web site developers must deliver consistent results.
