MWS News: August 4, 2008

Welcome back to the Minnick Web Services Newsletter!

This has been a pretty busy summer for us so far. Here are some of the projects that we've completed since the last newsletter:

1. Austin GDC

In mid-July, as part of our ongoing work with ThinkServices' Game Group, our programming team launched an enhanced version of myGDC, the official networking tool of the Game Developers Conference Events. The Austin Game Developers Conference will be held September 15-17. Alumni of GDC08, held earlier this year in San Francisco, have a lifetime membership to the site. Some of the new features launched are:

* A customizable profile where members can message their friends

* Search the myGDC database of over 5,000 members currently in the community

* myGDC Forums, where members can share advice, project ideas, and more

You can get a peek at the site by going to:
http://mygdc.gdconf.com/ , but to see it in all its glory, you'll need to register for the conference.

2. bMighty How-To Centers

During May and June, our Senior Web Developer Jen Ringle worked with the editors of bMighty.com to develop a design, HTML/CSS code template, and PDF template for their new How-To Centers. The How-To Centers are editorial destinations featuring original, downloadable How-To Guides created by the bMighty editorial team.

New Guides will be launched monthly. So far, two have been rolled out: The Server How-To Center on July 3, and the Imaging How-To Center on July 31. They can be visited at: http://www.bmighty.com/how-to_server/ and http://www.bmighty.com/how-to_imaging/

3. eBooks

The past two months have been a busy time for eBooks.

Senior Web Developers Amy Cluck and Mara Shank worked with our clients to launch the following publications during that time:

* Classroom Management in the Digital Age -- http://newbay.ebookhost.net/tl/faronics/1/

* Web 2.0: from Curious to Competent -- http://newbay.ebookhost.net/tl/atomic/2/

* A Laptop Especially for Schools -- http://newbay.ebookhost.net/k12/intel/2/

* Data Security: Myths and Realities -- http://sm.ebookhost.net/btn/sterling/2/

* Best Practices: Master Data Management -- http://sm.ebookhost.net/dmr/mdm/1/

* Green IT: the Next Priority for Enterprise Data Centers -- http://www.internetevolution.com/ebook/ebookibm4/index.html

* And, of course, 4 more issues of Managing REO -- http://www.managingreo.com

4. Smart Enterprise EITM Awards & Smart Enterprise Exchange

Mara Shank worked with TechWeb to launch the web site for Smart Enterprise Magazine's IT Management Excellence Awards. The awards will honor top companies for excellence in enterprise IT management. The site can be visited at: http://www.awards.smartenterprisemag.com/

This work was done in conjunction with our ongoing development and maintenance of the Smart Enterprise Magazine web site at http://www.smartenterprisemag.com/

Meanwhile, Jen Ringle worked on developing and launching Smart Enterprise's membership-based site, Smart Enterprise Exchange. The site serves senior IT executives with resources that address the top concerns of the global IT community. Visit it at http://www.smartenterpriseexchange.com

5. Briefing Centers

During June and July, Senior Web Developers Jen Ringle and Mara Shank produced several Briefing Centers for TechWeb and EverythingChannel:

* bForward: Technology Innovation for the
Small Enterprise -- http://bforward.bmighty.com/

* SaaS Security: Sponsored by Webroot -- http://saas-security.techweb.com/

* Optimized Back Up and Recovery:
Sponsored by Symantec -- http://www.recovery.techweb.com/

* Network of Choice: Sponsored by HP ProCurve -- http://hpprocurve.channelweb.com/

---
Hope your summer is full of fun. Please let me know if you have any questions about the projects highlighted in this email, or if there are any topics you'd like to see covered in an upcoming newsletter.

Thanks!
-Chris
